Heartland Humane Society and Olufson Designs "Fund It with Gold Drive" FAQ
Q: What kinds of jewelry and metal can I donate?
A: Bring in all your unwanted, broken, or unmatched jewelry for evaluation at Olufson Designs. Bring everything you think might be gold, silver, or platinum, with or without gemstones or diamonds. Some silver flatware can also be donated.
Q: Am I obligated to donate all my gold, silver and platinum to the Humane Society, or can I just donate part of the value and take the rest in cash?
A: You will be given the total values of your metal for trade, cash, and donation to the Humane Society and you will be able donate all or a portion of the amount, and take the remainder in cash or trade.
Q: Will I get a receipt for my donation?
A: Absolutely. You will receive a receipt from Olufson Designs with the amount to be donated to Heartland Humane Society. A receipt for tax purposes will be mailed from Heartland at a later time.
Q: What if I change my mind, can I get my jewelry back?
A: Olufson Designs will hold your scrap jewelry for at least 7 days to allow donors to have a chance to change their minds and recover their goods.
Q: I have some diamonds and gemstones in some of my pieces, can I keep those?
A: Yes, we can usually pull diamonds and gemstones out of the pieces, there may be a small fee for this service.
Q: What happens to the gold after I donate it?
A: Olufson Designs sends it to a refiner where it is converted to pure gold, and then sent back to us and recycled into new jewelry.
Q: What if I am not sure if my jewelry is real gold?
A: Olufson Designs has the expertise and testing equipment to test your gold for purity.
